A Summer Camp-Inspired Wedding at Dillman’s Bay Resort
August 29th, 2026 | Dillman's Bay Resort | Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin Hannah and Justin’s wedding weekend at Dillman’s Bay Resort in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, was colorful, personal, and very much a labor of love.
Justin grew up in Wausau, while Hannah is originally from California. The two met while working in hospitality at a luxury resort in Healdsburg, California, and spent the next several years building a life around good food, hosting dinner parties, and exploring as much of the world as they could together. When Hannah first visited Wisconsin early in their relationship, she quickly fell in love with it, making it the perfect place for the two to celebrate where their relationship had grown.
A Colorful Summer Camp-Inspired Weekend
The couple's vision was inspired by summer camp! Fun summer colors, gingham, flags, but still stylish. The colors of the flowers matched the bridesmaid dresses, and the girls getting ready outfits matched their dress colors. Lots of greens, blues, oranges, and pinks. Otherwise the vibe was meant to be fun- colorful with lots of music to make people feel like dancing.
Photos captured and submitted by Xee Vang with By Xee Friends and family played a huge part in bringing the weekend together. Justin's brother built the ceremony arbor, Hannah's dad installed the checkerboard design on the dance floor, and the bridesmaids made all of the bouquets.
The groomsmen (a wedding party full of chefs) helped prepare food for the welcome party, cocktail hour, and late-night celebration.
Their wedding planner was also a friend who traveled from Hawaii to be part of the weekend, while friends spent the day helping set up, even running around in the rain as the weather changed.
When the Rain Changed the Plan
It sprinkled throughout the day before the rain began pouring just as the ceremony was supposed to start.
The original plan had included guests writing well wishes on ribbons that would be strung from the ceremony arbor, but the weather had other plans. With the ceremony chairs already set up outside, the couple's wedding planner suggested a last-minute change: Hannah and Justin would get married under the tent on the dance floor.
Their friends and family gathered around them in a circle as they exchanged their vows, creating what ended up being one of the couple's favorite moments of the entire night.
Food, Music & Meaningful Details
Food played an important role throughout the weekend, which felt especially fitting for a couple who met while working in the hospitality industry. Dinner featured a taco bar from Martha Kelly Catering, followed by a baked potato bar for late-night food prepared by the groom, a chef who wanted to bring a little bit of his own world into the celebration.
Their signature cocktails included Hannah's “Coe-astal Spritz,” a Hugo Spritz named as a play on her last name, and Justin's “The JP Old Fashion,” a classic Wisconsin-style old fashioned with whiskey, sour, and cherries.
Guests enjoyed vanilla lemon cake from Karyn's Kreative Kitchen, while the couple had a slightly fancier version of the same flavor. For the cake cutting, Hannah and Justin used a plate that had belonged to Justin's great-grandfather from Poland.
Music was also a major part of the celebration. Justin walked down the aisle to “I Love You” by Climax Blues Band, while Hannah walked down to “Agape” by Nicholas Britell. For their first dance, they chose “What a Wonderful World” by Drew Holcomb after receiving dance lessons from one of their friends.
The couple also created a dinner playlist featuring the first dance songs of every married couple in attendance, hoping each guest would feel connected to memories from their own wedding day.
DJ Mitch brought a ton of energy with live sax and disco music to keep the crowd engaged.
From the handmade details to the incredible amount of work put in by friends and family, Hannah and Justin's wedding was surrounded by love from the very beginning.
And while the rain may not have been part of the original plan, it ultimately led to one of their favorite memories: getting married on the dance floor with the people they love gathered all around them.
